MaryAnn McSweeney, a Ditmas Park resident, will provide the music at Purple Yam for Noche Buena and New Year’s Eve

Sheryl Bailey(guitarist) and Mary Ann McSweeney(acoustic bassist) met in a recording studio fifteen years ago in New York City and have been playing together in many different situations over the years. They are both are band leaders and composers in their own right and have impressive track records to prove that. They have both toured Europe together performing with David Krakouer’s Klezmer Madness. To date, Sheryl Bailey, has five CD’s out under her own name and has been reviewed as a “Sizzling Guitar Goddess.” McSweeney is currently working on her third CD which is comprised of Fado Based music for her jazz group. She is also currently performing at the Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular.
The MaryAnn McSweeney Jazz Trio will play New Year’s Eve
Mary Ann McSweeney has assembled a special trio for New Year’s comprising of Mike Fahn who is “one of the genuine performers on Valve Trombone” and has performed with jazz legends such as Freddie Hubbard, Louis Bellson, Michael Brecker and Diana Krall. Jason Ennis is a New York based guitartist who has studied Brazilian music in South America and has a unique and diverse background in jazz blues, and classical music as well. He has recorded with Tesse Souter and Charles Neville (Neville Brothers) and co leads a trio with influences from Chile, Andean Folk songs and Tangos.
This trio will perform a variety of music for New Year’s Eve.
